Peace in the Park announces its permanent closure
This is a devastating loss for Sheffield and the community around the Ponderosa
On social media today, Peace in the Park, which has been organising festivals for years in Sheffield, including in the Ponderosa Park in Netherthorpe and Upperthorpe, announced that it is to close.
In an article to explain this decision, the team explains that this is due to a range of factors including fundraising challenges, the problems still resulting from Covid, key directors leaving the team, an increase in vendor costs, a loss of volunteers, and a loss of community cohesion.
This is very sad news for Sheffield as a whole, but particularly for the communities around the Ponderosa who could experience this free festival in their local area.
So, below, are some of my favourite memories from various Peace in the Park festivals from 2008 onwards in our gorgeous park.
