Do you have something to say about Netherthorpe, Upperthorpe or Neepsend? Perhaps you have some news about the area, you want to review a local restaurant, or you have an opinion about what the Netherthorpe, Upperthorpe and Neepsend communities need… Maybe you are attending a local event you’d like to write about, you want to mobilise people around a cause, or you want to sit in on a council meeting about an issue affecting the area in order to write a report for us.

If any of the above apply, we would be happy to hear your thoughts and talk about featuring your writing, videos or thoughts on NUN Local. We can’t pay, but you will be published, you will have writing samples to share, and – best of all – you will be helping out the communities in Netherthorpe, Upperthorpe and Neepsend.

Volunteer

Perhaps you’d like to help out but you don’t feel like you’re much of a writer. Or you want to get some experience volunteering on a local project to learn or improve your skills in areas that could help you out at work, school or in a community project of your own.

There are so many tasks that you could help out with, even just for a couple of hours every week or two.

Essentially, at this stage, Netherthorpe, Upperthorpe and Neepsend news is a one-person operation. Any helping hands that are keen to grow this resource for the residents of the area are very welcome.

Some skills you might already have, or might want to learn, through volunteering with NUN Local are:

  • social media

  • photography

  • building relationships with business and community organisations

  • marketing

  • design

  • editing

  • admin

  • responding to queries

Or maybe something I haven’t thought of yet! If there’s a skill I haven’t mentioned that you think could add value to Netherthorpe, Upperthorpe and Neepsend news, just email me about it. I’m all ears.

While you won’t get paid, there are plenty of other benefits that volunteers on a project like this can experience, such as:
